Digital Workplace, Talent Management, and Employee Engagement

I hold that it is the embraced Human Resource Management practices adopted in a particular organization that determines its competitive edge. Therefore, I felt it is essential that all organizations in the corporate world governmental, non-profit making or profit-making organizations that want to enhance their competitive advantage should focus on some core HRM practices. This core Human Resource Management practices are performance management, employees’ socialization as well as effective training and selection.
            Additionally, I also felt that high competitive edge occurs where employees are motivated and imparted with the relevant skills through training, and I believe this will be the case if an organization invests in the four key HRM practices. Furthermore, if an organization engages in the right procedure of selecting its workforce, it is likely they will have the intended skills that will result in increased performance, quality production and high-profit margins consequently leading to a high competitive edge. Through socialization and employee engagement newcomers are become conversant with the organizational culture, mission, goals, and vision hence promoting oneness. As a result, all employees will be working towards the achievement of the organizational goals. I also believe that where there is engagement there a high level of motivation as communication barriers are omitted. Also, I felt that firms should focus not only in proper selection but also on talent management such as retaining their intrapreneurs to have their competitive edge increased.
            I never considered Human Resource Management as capable of influencing the performance of an organization. However, this article has made me reconsider my view of HRM, and I currently value HRM practices as it has made me understand that it is through the utilized practices that determine the competitive edge of a firm.  This study can be applied in organizations that have been experiencing difficulties in boosting their competitive edges despite using the best raw materials and process to register significant improvement in their competitive advantage as it will give them the core HRM practices that they should embrace to achieve their goal of high competitive edge since competitive advantage is dependent on the utilized HRM practices.
