Communication in the Digital Work Environment
It is true that with the diversification of communication in the digital work environment, there has been an increase in terms of workload consequently resulting in ill-being at work. The inducers of stress and increased workload in the current digital work environment should be addressed to safeguard the productivity of employees as well as avoid work-life conflict. This is because employees are forced to indulge in work-related activities such as reading emails while at home which infringes the normal life away from work. Iconquer with the perception that in the digital work environment, communication tools and platforms have been diversified. The diversification has increased the volume of communication as well as pressurizing people to stay connected always. Furthermore, it has promoted an incomplete message. All these factors have promoted increased communication-related workload leading to techno-stress which in turn results to lack of wellbeing at workplaces.
The article has impacted me positively has it has made me reconsider some of my communications in the digital workplace which are perpetrators of huge workload and stress in the workplace thus resulting in workplace ill-being. Nowadays my messages are complete to avoid cases of multiple interpretations increases workload in the event to interpretations to acquire the intended message. In addition, I was used to sending multiple messages to individuals while in need of quick answer without considering the implications of the messages on the recipients. I have come to understand that was pilling work to someone which affects his or her wellbeing. As a result, I have changed the same, and I currently make a call rather than pilling messages from different communication channels such as direct messaging and emails.
This work can be applied in the corporate world to ease work-related stress resulting from the increased workload. Organizations should use on communication platform for communication rather than using various communication platforms. It should also campaign for sending of complete messages as well as availing adequate training facilities whenever they roll out a new communication in the digital workplace. This will help them is minimizing cases of workplace ill-being hence ensuring the productivity of the employees is not compromised.
